Sands China Shows Its Support for Macao SAR Happy Family Month

(Macao, June 28, 2018)Sands China Ltd. showed its support again this year for the Social Welfare Bureau’s Happy Family Month, with four Macao nongovernmental organisations having setup roadshows at Sands China properties to promote their services.

“Sands China is very pleased to help promote Happy Family Month at our properties, and to highlight community organisations that are providing valuable services to the community, including to our team members,” said Winnie Wong, vice president of corporate communications and community affairs for Venetian Macau Limited. “We are grateful to the participating NGOs for presenting these roadshows and for the wide range of unique and focused services they provide to nurture a positive and harmonious family life. Supporting an impactful initiative like Happy Family Month is an important way for our company to carry out its corporate social responsibility, and we’re very pleased to see high levels of engagement with our team members.”

At various times between June 11 and June 29, Sands China team members had access to information booths manned by representatives from the Gaming Employees’ Home, the Sheng Kung Hui Gambling Counseling and Family Wellness Centre, We Point of the Christian New Life Fellowship, and the elderly care service network office of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM). The booths were set up at the back-of-house areas of Sands® Macao, The Venetian® Macao, Sands® Cotai Central, and The Parisian Macao

Representatives from the NGOs offered information on their organisations’ local community resources and services promoting neighbourhood harmony and family happiness. Expected to reach approximately 4,000 Sands China team members in total, the booths provided information on a range of themes, including responsible gaming, family wellness support, stress relief, emotional support, prevention of drug and alcohol abuse, and prevention of sexual assault. We Point of Christian New Life Fellowship’s booth included a health check for team members and a quiz game to enhance their awareness of drug and alcohol abuse prevention.

UGAMM’s elderly care service network office introduced team members to its Home Safety Assessment and Funding Program for the Elderly. Launched in August 2015 by the Social Welfare Bureau, it aims to enhance public awareness of home safety for the elderly and to reduce accidents at home. Targeted at elderly aged 60 or above, the programme provides several complimentary services and products to improve home safety, including home safety assessments and guidance, installation of handrails, light bulb replacement, electrical socket replacement, and non-slip mats.

Supporting initiatives like Happy Family Month is part of Sands China’s ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts under Sands Cares, the global corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
